Invisalign attachments, also known as buttons, are small tooth-coloured bumps that are placed on specific teeth during Invisalign treatment. These attachments help the aligners grip the teeth better, enabling them to apply the necessary force to move the teeth into their proper position.
The attachments are customised for each patient and are designed to be discreet and blend in with the natural teeth. They are usually placed on the teeth at the beginning of treatment and are removed at the end of treatment.
Invisalign attachments help to create additional forces, needed to shift teeth into their proper position. For example, they may be used to rotate a tooth or move it vertically.
While the attachments may be visible, they are usually not as noticeable as traditional metal braces. The clear aligners used in Invisalign treatment are still virtually invisible. You may request to not have attachments on your front teeth, however this may add more time to your treatment.
